The Wisconsin River Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited was officially chartered on December 2, 1982.

The purpose of this chapter is to preserve and protect trout as a game fish; to conserve, protect and restore the trout fisheries in the counties of Lincoln, Marathon, Price and Taylor counties in Wisconsin. We exist to educate the public and to advocate for the practical and scientific management of the watersheds. We do this in cooperation with other like-minded conservation organizations and government agencies to increase and restore trout populations. Our purpose is to educate the public, especially youth in the value of conserving our cold water resources.

We do this by working together; enjoying the fruits of our labors in quality trout waters and in the inherently beautiful places trout inhabit.

We are an active chapter.

Here are some of the things the WRVTU Chapter accomplished in 2007:

  • Fly tying class at Gander Mountain, Wausau
  • Fly casting and tying instruction at the Boy's and Girl's Club, Wausau
  • Women in the Outdoors, Marshfield Chapter casting and tying instruction
  • DNR sponsored Kids in the Outdoors, Wausau School Forest casting and tying instruction
  • Fly tying classes at the American Legion, Wausau
  • Wausau East and Edgar High Schools two day stream study program on the Plover River
  • Part one of a two part stream improvement project on the Prairie River
  • Part one of an on-going brushing project on the Prairie River
  • Annual fund raising banquet in April at Memories Ballroom, Rib Mountain
  • 2008 looks just as busy.  Check out the activities!

If you would like to get involved in the good work of the WRVTU chapter you are more than welcome to participate in any of our activities. Come to our chapter gatherings.  They are informative and enjoyable. For assisting with stream work, all you need to do is fill out a waiver as a non-Trout Unlimited participant. Just contact us though this site and we will send you the information and required form.

    Better yet!

Why not become a member of Trout Unlimited?  It is half price for new members, you become part of the WRVTU chapter and nearly all of your registration fee comes back to our chapter to help fund our work. You get all the benefits and you don't need to fill out those waivers! Just go to Join TU for all the details.
